Christmas is coming. (Decisions, decisions).

Christmas is coming in less that 4 days! I seriously cannot believe how fast this whole year has gone by. I guess it's true what they say, the older you get, the more you want everything to stay the same.

Here are some pics I took with my sister downtown tonight.

So I've gotten 2 job offers so far, 1 from Syncrude in Fort McMurray (which I've already accepted), and 1 from Matrikon here in Edmonton. I also had an interview with Western Economic Diversification (which is a federal government department) last Friday, and I should be hearing back either tomorrow or Wednesday. The plan is that I was going to go to Fort McMurray should I not be able to secure a position here in Edmonton. Right now I'm torn as to what to do next... On one hand I would rather much prefer to stay in Edmonton for the time being. Fort McMurray is so desolate, and the winters there make it so much more unbearable. If it was Summer right now I'd go in a heartbeat. On the other hand, the pay that Syncrude is offering is twice the amount that Matrikon is. WD told me I would most likely be at the top of the pay scale for their position, so hopefully I'll get an answer from them soon. I have until Christmas Eve to get back to Matrikon so I'll see what happens then.

Also I cannot believe Brittany Murphy died! Seriously she was 32 years old and died of a heart attack. Way too young to be taken away from this world, but it makes you wonder if it was really a "natural death" or was it from something she was doing?
When celebrities or other well-known people pass away, it makes me feel old. These are people society has put onto a pedestal. For some reason, deep down, I always have this underlying feeling that these celebrities are constant, invincible, and static. When these people pass away, people that we've grown up with, seen on TV, in the movies... it just reminds me how I, a normal, "regular" person, will end up in the same place at some point in the future. I don't know the point I'm trying to get across, but essentially, news like this makes me sad and scared.

The other day during yoga class I heard this song. One of the best songs I've heard this year, it's sad yet happy. I guess sad is happy, for deep people. :D
I've posted a fan-made video for the song, as well as live performance. Enjoy.

Insomnia v.91238231287312..........

Okay so it is yet ANOTHER sleepless night. I've completely messed up my schedule whereby I fall asleep around 4/5pm and then wake up around 8/9pm. THIS SUCKS. It's soooo boring at night, but I can't help but fall asleep in the late afternoon cuz I'm so tired at that time.... sigh.

Anyway I had an interview Monday morning and I thought it went quite well. I have to go back on Wednesday to do a writing sample for them so they can see how my written communication skills are. I hope I don't fob out and write incoherent ramblings like I do here. I hope I get this job and I hope it pays well enough so that I can save up for my graduation trip this upcoming Summer. I still have not decided what region of the world I want to go to (Europe vs. Asia), but I will see how much I need to go to each place, how much I can save up, and who else is willing to come with me. :D

So the weather has been absofuckinglutely ridiculous. Edmonton was the 2nd coldest place in the world on Sunday morning with a temperature of -48C, WTFFFFFF. I took some pictures of the first major snowfall we had this year, which coincidentally enough happened on my first day of freedom.

I've also been having so much time on my hands that I've been sitting around and reminiscing about the good old days. Usually this includes me listening to the awesome music I grew up with, and this time I remembered my quest to find a brand new copy of Sky's Piece of Paradise CD. I still cannot find one and realistically it's been almost 9 years since it first came out, so as time goes on my chances are probably slim to none. Anyway here is Sky's video for the song "Love Song" with the beginning part cut off for some reason. Enjoy.

Freedom!

Okay so I've unofficially finished my university career! I wrote my last final exam last Thursday, and so far I've gotten 3 marks back and they're surprisingly really good. I swear I did less studying and work than I ever did in all my years in school... so far I've gotten A-, B+, and B+ and I'm still waiting for one more. Now it's all about getting out into the real world and making the big bucks... that's if the economy doesn't keep fucking me over.

Right now I have about an 80% chance of going back to Fort McMurray for the next four months. My staying in Edmonton will depend all on the interview I have on Monday... cross your fingers! So I've basically been hibernating at home since last week, it's so damn cold. Maybe I should put up some pictures I took of the crazy winter storm we had here last weekend.

Recently my skin has been breaking out A LOT, like I've never seen before even in my teenage years. I think it's a combination of weather and stress. It's best described as combination, with a bit of sensitivity as well. My skin was probably at its best when I was using Biotherm Homme Acnoclean, but alas Biotherm decided not to make this anymore which sucks. I then went on to use Vichy Normaderm and it just didn't do much for my skin, and was really drying. A couple weeks ago I was at the mall with Leslie where we came upon some kind of sale happening at The Body Shop, you could get any three full sized items for $30, which was pretty good. I got the Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleanser, Toner, and Lotion. First impressions were good, the product seemed to be making my blemishes go away. As the days went on my skin got really really dry, and new breakouts were popping up all over! Luckily it was still within 30 days so I took them back to the store and got a refund.

I went to Lush at West Ed (check out their website here) and got some samples of their face stuff, because I heard their products are as close to all natural as you can get, and the efficacy is really awesome. I managed to get samples of Herbalism, Angels On Bare Skin, and Fresh Farmacy face washes, and Imperialis face lotion. I bought a bottle of the Tea Tree Water Toner simply because I've never been able to find toner that was alcohol-free, as well as free of nasty chemicals. I also thought that if I were to not like any of the face wash samples, I would revert back to my Cetaphil face wash and Complex 15 lotion, and the Tea Tree Water would be a great treatment for any breakouts. So far, my skin has improved DRASTICALLY, and it's only been a few days. But we'll see if it continues to improve or goes to shit like The Body Shop stuff.

The current regimen I'm using is the Herbalism cleanser, Tea Tree Water, and Imperialis lotion. I don't know which of the products is responsible for the improvement, but after I am finished with the Herbalism I am going to move onto the Fresh Farmacy sample.

I never intended this to be a blog about face stuff because A. I'm not a girl, and B. my friend Aggie is all over that shit like white on rice. However, my face has been in its worse condition yet, and I am going to document what works and what doesn't because I'm sick of the pizza factory happening on my face!

Lately I've been hearing Lady Gaga's song "Bad Romance" on the radio a lot, and all I have to say is her music is damn catchy! I downloaded her new album and had a quick preview, and another song that has really good beats is "Telephone" featuring Beyonce. I like how the music suddenly turns "black" when Beyonce starts singing hahahahaha. I've included a YouTube link to the song below :D

Ironic

So I'm sitting here at my laptop at home and I've just finished this week's song report for my Intro to Popular Music class tonight. This week's readings were based on Pop and R&B of the 1990s which of course is the best decade ever.

The song I chose? "Ironic" by Alanis Morrisette. Who doesn't like that?

“Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face”

Pilot Entry

So I've decided to start a public blog here on Blogger. I feel like I need an outlet to talk about stuff openly without having to do it with Facebook status updates or Twitter tweets. I have a private blog where I go to vent my innermost frustrations which is awesome, but on the other hand I am lacking an outlet for my public persona so to speak. So this will be my new domain in the blogosphere.

Yesterday I posted my first entry on my Xanga blog for the first time in almost 3 years. My friend Susan is probably the only other person who blogs on Xanga on a quasi-regular basis. I want to keep it because of sentimental reasons - yes I'm all about the nostalgia.

It's the countdown to the last day of university for me which is December 3rd, 2009.... t-minus 22 days. Grad pics are next Tuesday.

So I'm getting over this awful cold I caught last week. I was fighting it on and off for about 2 weeks and then last Friday was when I had a full blown sore throat. Then it progressed to sneezing and runny nose, then the congested nose where I couldn't breathe through my nostrils at all, then the dry cough, and then the nasty productive chest cough - of which surprisingly only lasted a day when usually I would probably get bronchitis. I attribute this to some lo han kuo tea, chrysanthemum and goji berry tea, green tea, vitamin C, cold-fx, and hot yoga! Seriously my usual colds would normally last longer than this so it's quite a pleasant surprise.

Wow this is a pretty boring first entry... I hope I have more to talk about soon.
